Friday's pick: An Evening with Alexander McCall Smith

Friday, November 21, 2008, 09:41

You’ve probably heard of Alexander McCall Smith, even if you can’t place him straight away.

He’s the author of more than 60 books, but is probably most famous for his award-winning series of novels, No 1 Ladies Detective Agency which was also made into a film.

This is the story of Precious Romatswe, Botswana’s leading female private detective who, together with her friend Mr Matekoni, solve mysteries that baffle others.

Anyway, AMS is coming to Uppingham for An Evening With, where you’ll be able to hear about his life as a professor of medical law, his venture into writing and his success. All questions from budding county writers welcome.

Venue: Uppingham Theatre, Uppingham on 01572 820 820
